About the Book

When seventeen-year-old school teacher Rosanna Keim moves to Honey Ridge, the last thing she expects is to find the love of her life.
Zachariah Zook thought he always knew what he wanted – to buy a farm in his beautiful state of Kentucky, settle down, and live a peaceable Amish life. But John Christner, his wayward-leaning best friend, has him worried. When the Keim family, including beautiful Rosanna, temporarily move into the Zook family’s home, Zach thinks this might just be the ticket to secure John’s future among the Plain folk. Believing his departure will be best for all, Zachariah selflessly steps out into the unknown. Little does he realize that his sacrifice will forever alter all of their lives…

My Perspective

I was very intrigued by the prologue to this book. I had never heard about an Amish man leaving to join the military before. Would he even be allowed to go back to his community? What were the circumstances behind him leaving? Then the author totally switched gears in the first chapter by introducing us to the Keim family who were moving out of state and temporarily staying with the Zooks. My first thought was what in the heck happened to the military guy? In due time you find out all about his reasons, actions and circumstances. But until then, make sure you relax and enjoy the story!

I loved the chemistry between Zachariah and Rosanna. I could picture the sparks flying between them as if I were watching them on the big screen. Enter John. I did not like him at first and I think it was solely because I viewed him as a threat to whom I thought the real couple of the book would be. He moved extremely fast and I thought perhaps there was something a little off. But as I kept reading I found myself enjoying John and Rosanna’s relationship. It seemed like they were exactly where they were supposed to be.

You’ll find this story full of love, honor and sacrifice. It offers a reminder about compassion, and doing selfless acts that can benefit others. Make sure you have your tissues nearby – you are going to need them!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
