It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost half over already! It has gone by so fast, and I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but we haven’t really had a good summer around here. It’s either rainy, or so hot and muggy that you don’t want to go outside. But, there’s good news. Neither of those weather patterns affect a girl and her reading! This week I’m sharing a suspenseful book with you. Cara Putnam’s Beyond Justice. I will say this – the book kept me on my toes. Look for the review later on!
If he didn’t find that flash drive now, he would have to disappear.
There you have it guys! And now it’s your turn! Open the book nearest to you and share the first line in the comments! And make sure to check out what my friends are reading this week! Happy Friday!

I’m featuring a new release by Bethany Kaczmarek on my blog this week, but I’m going to post the first line from a book I’ve been meaning to read for aaaaaages: To Whisper Her Name, by Tamera Alexander.
“First Lieutenant Ridley Adam Cooper peered through the stand of bristled pines, his presence cloaked by dusk, his Winchester cocked and ready.”
The ending had me on my toes for sure!
Oh my! That first line certainly grabbed my attention! 🙂
My first line is from “A Note Yet Unsung,” by Tamera Alexander.
“Rebekah Carrington stood shivering across the street from her childhood home, satchel heavy in hand, cloak dusted with snow.”
I want to know where she is going!
My first line is from Sweet Delights by Cecelia Dowdy: “PATTY-LYNN?” THE FAMILIAR VOICE made her pause.
Great intro!
I’m sharing a first line from The Red Door Inn by Liz Johnson. “The change in Marie Carrington’s pocket wouldn’t pay for a ferry ride across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island, let alone a bus ticket to anywhere else in the world.”
And now I am wondering what the money she needs is for….
Yes, it has mostly been rainy here. I feel like my summer is just beginning. 🙂 Happy Friday!
Me too!! Have to take advantage of each nice day (if only work didn’t get in the way ha!)
It has been very muggy and hot here the last couple of days. Hope you have a nice weekend!
You too 🙂
Happy Friday! I’m excited to read Cara Putman’s new series!
My first line comes from Dime Novel Suitor by Carrie Fancett Pagels. It’s part of the Seven Brides for Seven Mail-Order Husbands Romance Collection.
Turtle Springs, Kansas
April 1866
Pa had some kind of nerve, up and dying like that-just when I’d gotten used to Frank being gone.
Read that and loved it!
I enjoyed that book!
Me too!!
My first line is from Gabrielle Meyer’s novella found in the Of Rags and Riches Romance Collection
“A Tale of Two Hearts” Little Falls, Minnesota May 20, 1899
The countryside sped by as Elijah Boyer pushed the Duryea Motor Wagon to twenty-five miles per hour.
Happy Friday!
Love collections 🙂
My first line is from “Heaven Sent Rain” by Lauraine Snelling.
He’s there again.
Short, sweet and to the point!
I personally will take the hot & muggy over snow and cold, but thankfully can read no matter the weather 🙂
Yes we certainly can!!
