Friday Line First……or the Illusion of First Line Friday!

Okay, so the title of today’s #firstlinefriday may give you a little hint about where my first line is coming from. Have you ever read a book that just totally mesmerized you and made you forget the real world for awhile? You could see the book happening in front of your eyes like an illusion? This is that book for me. There are so many things that draw me in…the storyline, the characters, the setting, and of course the author’s amazing writing ability! I’m already wondering when the next book is going to come. That’s a hint to the author. I hope she’s reading 🙂

Today’s first line comes from the very talented Kristy Cambron and her latest novel The Illusionist’s Apprentice. It’s so good… will be coming shortly!

And now it’s time……. (enter drumroll)

This weeks first line from

Agent Elliot Matthews stared down a firing squad.

Doesn’t that line just pull you in? Why is this agent staring down a firing squad? And how does this character fit into the story? You’ll find out when you pick up your copy  here  and start reading!

Now it’s your turn! Go grab your current read, turn to page one, and share your first line in the comments below. And don’t forget to visit these fantastic bloggers to see what they are reading:

  1. “Even if she hadn’t been the last person to walk through the turnstile at Warren Street tube station, Jack Barker would have noticed the tall, slender woman in the navy blue, thigh-length jacket with a matching pleated skirt short enough to reveal a well-turned ankle.” ~Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear

This book is so good and wonderfully written. I don’t know what took me so long to start reading the Maisie Dobbs books? 🙂

  2. I was staring out of the classroom window and daydreaming of adventure when I spotted the flying saucer. – Armada by Ernest Cline.

    Happy w/end!

  3. Happy Friday! I have looked at Kristy’s books before & really need to try them.
My first line is from Joel C. Rosenberg’s new book Without Warning:
“I had never been in the Oval Office before.
But I’d always imagined my first time going differently.”

  4. I love Kristy’s stories!

    Here is my first line.

Claire Murray headed for the barn, a burst of cold air lifting her long blonde hair and tossing it into her face. – To Dance with Dolphins by Bonnie Leon

    Happy Friday and Happy Reading!
