Will old secrets tear them apart again or can they find the faith to let God’s grace restore what has been broken?

My Review

I was so happy to revisit Freedom Lake and all the wonderful characters. Although most of the characters are in each book, you can tell that they each have a wonderful story of their own to tell. And there is one story I hope is next, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Guy and Michelle? Well, theirs just might be my favorite story. And Toni Shiloh had me hooked with the prologue. From there, it was pretty much a one sitting read, but then again most of her books are because I enjoy them so much. The thing about Toni is that she writes with her heart, and she writes what is real. Even in the way her characters talk to each other, it’s not fake or forced. I can picture real people in my head talking just like them, with their accents and mannerisms. One thing I cannot stand is “perfect” characters who have to speak and act in just the right manner. It’s not real people! So thank you Toni for keeping it real.

This book did hold a surprise or two that I wasn’t really expecting until later in the book, and I found that to be delightful. When an author can throw something at you that you never saw coming, well that’s my idea of a great read. Both Michelle and Guy had been through a lot in their life, both together and separate. Just because they had a past didn’t mean they could automatically fall back in sync with each other. They both had some heavy obstacles to overcome. Frankly, I liked that Guy and Michelle took their time coming together. It was a natural progression, and with two cute little girls involved (who stole a couple of scenes by the way) it needed to be slow. There were many laughable scenes with the girls, but also some beautiful heart to hearts. They showed the faith of a child, which I think helped both the main characters and myself. I needed that gentle reminder to have faith like a child. They truly believe in all their hearts that God will and can do anything! I think sometimes as adults we forget that.

My favorite part of the story was when Michelle decides to work with a client who on the outside appears to be everything Michelle is against. This was a real turning point for her character, and as I watched her deal with the situation and come up with a game plan, I kind of felt like a proud mama. It was touching to see her character make a turn like that. When the words on the page dance in your heart, well it just makes you happy, joyful and hopeful. This story was all of that for me and more.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Author Interview

1. How did you decide that you wanted to write Christian romance?  What inspired this?

When I rededicated my life to Christ, I wanted to be used by Him. It wasn’t until I went back to school to get my Bachelor’s degree in English that the writing bug really called to me. Not that it hadn’t before, but that it could actually be a way to reach people. I went to my local library to see if they had any books like this. I had never heard of Christian fiction so once I found the section, I began devouring the books and the lessons found between the pages.

We need Christian fiction in this world! And let’s face it, a lot of libraries don’t have enough of it. We all need to work together to donate books, or request that they order books.

2. How often do you hear from your reader fans?

I hear from readers maybe once a month. Usually it’s because they’re sharing a review with me or they just want to share how the story touched their hearts.

I’m sure those stories will keep coming once they all read Grace Restored!

3. What inspired the idea for Grace Restored?

When I wrote book one, I knew the characters for each series. It wasn’t until I was midway through book one, Returning Home, that I realized how much of a story Guy and Michelle had. As soon as I finished the first draft of RH, I dove into Grace Restored with anticipation. They did not disappointment me.

They didn’t disappoint me either 😉

4. What do you want readers to take away from reading Grace Restored?

That no matter what skeletons you shoved in your closet, God’s grace is enough to restore You to the kingdom, to peace of mind, to faith.

So true! Thank you Lord for your grace!

5. What is your current WIP? What can you tell us about it?

Currently I’m working on finishing the fourth and final book in the Maple Run series. This book features Shorty and Nikki with characters from the first three books making an appearance. These two have really struggled to share their thoughts with me from the moment I tried to make them book 2, lol. Thankfully, they’re opening up but it’s still a struggle.

Oh I can’t wait to read this! But I’m going to miss the Maple Run series…….

  1. This sounds like a great read, and I just love Toni’s heart! One of my favorite verses in this aspect is the second part of James 2:13–mercy triumphs over judgment. Praise God for his mercy!
