His Encouragement – Christmas #1

Hello friends! Welcome to His Encouragement, a weekly dose of biblical encouragement to help get you through your week! Make sure you check out what my friends have to say too. Let’s all encourage each other!

This month I want to concentrate on the Christmas story. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Christmas. And really, I love everything about it – secular and religious. I could have Christmas all year round, but of course then it wouldn’t be special. And while some tell me that I’m “in the world” too much with how much I celebrate this joyous holiday, I hope that inside I am really doing it for the right reasons. I decorate, I put up a tree, I listen to all sorts of music, I bake a TON of cookies and candies. I love driving around and seeing decorations, I have enough Christmas earrings to wear a different pair every day in December, and I have Christmas socks. I sing, I rejoice, I read my Bible, I dwell on the birth of Jesus, I participate in church events, and yes I even give and receive gifts. I probably do more than that, but we don’t have all day 😉

Let me just say one more thing – I watch a billion Hallmark movies. Okay, I’m done now.

I’m pretty busy the month of December. In fact, last year I was so busy that I promised hubby that this year I would take it easy. And even though so far I have turned down some events and things, it still seems busy. But even in the busyness, I have not forgotten the reason I get so excited in the first place. It’s not the lights. It’s not the songs or the decorations. It’s celebrating that God loves us, me, so much that he became man for us. Hard to wrap your mind around isn’t it?

God became man.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Matthew 1:22-23

I encourage you this year to really dive deep into the Christmas story – the true Christmas story. I will be back next week to share another verse. In the meantime, may you remember what amazing gift we are celebrating this month! I hope you will allow Jesus to come into your heart and encourage you this holiday season.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. God is with us!!! It’s something I’ve been focusing on this year cause there’ve been many times this year I’ve felt alone. I’ve had to remember that God is always here with me!
