His Encouragement – God’s Love

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 4 Comments

Happy Thursday friends! How has your week been? Mine has been crazy as usual, but you know what makes me smile? Knowing how much God loves me. Last night at church, my pastor did an object lesson for our kids and it was fantastic. He put a bunch of objects on a table that could measure stuff. In the midst of them, he put a cross. Of course, at first sight the cross looks out of place. But remember this verse….

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Familiar verse, right? If you think about it, it measures God’s love for us. He loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die on the cross FOR US. You can’t use a tape measure, a scale, or a yard stick to measure it because it is not a finite number. However, when you look at the cross, you can remember that it resembles the measurement of God’s love. No one or no thing can measure bigger than that! What a comfort to know that no matter what is going on in the world, God loves me. No matter who may mock me, or be angry with me, God still loves me. No matter when I mess up and feel like a failure, God still loves me. And friends, He loves you too!

What verse has been on your mind this week? I hope you’ll share it. Be sure to stop by these blogs to see what verse has inspired them this week too!

  1. Love this verse! Excellent choice. When I stop to really think about what Jesus did for me, what God did for me…it takes my breath away.
