Happy Thursday friends! It’s time for another dose of encouragement, to lift your spirits and help you through your week.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I have lately. Work is really busy for me right now. Too busy actually. Every day I am stressed by the amount of work I still need to get done, and it seems to just pile up into one big mountain on my desk. Just when I think I’m making a dent, and perhaps this mountain now looks like a hill, BAM, more work comes in. Then there’s phone calls, customers stopping in to chit chat, or new customers coming in to see what we have. Don’t worry, I am always pleasant with the customers, but I find myself being a little short with my coworkers, not intentionally, it’s more like a “leave me alone, I’m busy and don’t want to chit chat” attitude. (I’m working on that.) I can also see it reflecting on my attitude at home, which is NOT okay. No matter how hard I try to leave work at work, I’m not always successful.
So what is one to do when they have so much work they feel like they will never catch up? Pray! Pray for patience, wisdom, an understanding heart, and that eventually that mountain will become the hill that is more manageable. Pray for God to give me peace about the situation, and know that He has my back. Take a deep breath and just work on one file at a time. I found a verse that has really helped comfort me during this.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 KJV
Now, you know I don’t stray from KJV very often, but I have to say that I like the NLT version of this verse too.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT
Peace. The Lord is going to give me peace. The Lord. Not a customer, not the world, not even finishing this mountain of paperwork. The Lord. So there is no reason for me to be so overwhelmed, anxious, upset, or irritated. The Lord will give me peace, the strength to get through, and will wipe away my worries. I just have to ask.
Now it’s your turn friends. What verse is on your heart today? Make sure you visit these other wonderful blogs for some more encouragement!
