His Encouragement – Mansions

Happy Thursday friends! Welcome to another addition of His Encouragement, our chance to give you a little dose of encouragement in your week. I cannot say enough how glad I am that Trisha and Nicole started this journey and allowed me to join in. It is such a pick-me-up for me as well!

This week I want to talk about houses. For those of you who don’t know, the house I live in is not great. It is a roof over our heads, and we are surely thankful that God provided that. However….. there are so many issues with it and it is frustrating to live there. My husband and I dream of building our own home, we even have the design that we want. Nothing fancy, really. Just a house that has room for us to move around, have guests over, and live without being on top of each other all the time. Our current house is about 800 square feet with one bathroom. Three people and one bathroom – um that math doesn’t really work lol. There are stairs everywhere. Even into the bathroom! Let’s just say the layout is kind of silly. I have the tiniest kitchen, which is a shame because I love cooking and baking! I’m sure some of you are asking why we even bothered – the house belonged to my husband’s uncle and when he agreed to purchase it years ago, before we were dating, and he probably didn’t think it’d be permanent. But here we are, years later, still living here. There are some structural issues and such too, but the cost of houses in my area has sky rocketed, and so we are stuck. Even fixing everything we need to fix and/or expand is out of our price range. Luckily, the property is beautiful. We have so much land and wildlife, it is in a wonderful location, and away from the road. That kind of makes up for it!

So why am I bringing this up? No, it’s not to complain, although we are good at that, aren’t we? It’s to lead into this…..

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

John 14:2-3

One day I am going to live in a mansion! A mansion that I don’t have to buy, clean, tidy, or worry about the heating bill. A mansion where it won’t matter how many bathrooms there are, or how big the kitchen is. A mansion that is not crowded and has plenty of space. And the most amazing builder is getting this mansion ready for me – Jesus. He promises that we will go there. He promises that He will come get us one day. He promises that we will be with Him. Sure, living in the house I live in now is hard, but we make do. One day we won’t have to just “make do”. Knowing that makes the current living situation a little easier, don’t you think?

  2. Whew hoo! Heaven’s gonna be awesome!! Can you imagine what it would be like to be able to sit down and have a cup of coffee with Jesus?? (I don’t like coffee… but you never know maybe I will in heaven LOL)

I get the crowded home and bathroom btw… I grew up in a house of FIVE with only one bathroom. NOT FUN!
