His Encouragement – Promises of the Bible 4

Hello friends! Welcome to another week of His Encouragement, a weekly dose of biblical encouragement to help get you through your week! I’m so honored to be able to share a verse with you each week, in hopes that it will help you, uplift you, and encourage you. 🙂

Today marks week four of my new series – Promises of the Bible. Each week I’m going to feature one of God’s promises from the bible, share it with you, but also take time to memorize it through the week. My hope is that I am able to memorize verses (which honestly is hard for me) that will bring me comfort when I need it most down the road.

This week’s verse is from 1 Corinithians.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Temptation.

It’s something we all struggle with on a daily basis, and it’s different for everyone. My temptations are not yours, and vice versa. And thank the Lord for that, because you couldn’t handle mine and I couldn’t handle yours! But let me be honest in saying that not a day goes by where I am not tempted in some way. Could be a small thing, or could be a big thing. In a perfect world, there would be no temptations! And we will live in that perfect world one day. But until then….

1 Corinthians 10:13

When we feel the urge to do something we know we shouldn’t do, it’s a good time to remember this verse. God always provides a way out. We don’t have to give in to temptation. We don’t need to sin. We chose to give in. It’s very easy to do, trust me I know. I am trying to be more conscience about it. I remind myself that God is right here, tapping on my shoulder, ready to provide me the strength I need to say no. Yes, it requires more effort on our part. Yes, it means we have to be mindful of the situations we are in, and the opportunities we have to escape. But we don’t have to do it alone! God is there to help us. He will provide a way out. We only need to seek His counsel.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. My issue is I often don’t realize I’ve been tempted and I’m down a bad track until AFTER. Then I hate myself. Now, I’m trying really hard to just constantly focus on God first so I’m already by Him when frustrations come. 🙂
