Hello friends! Thank you for joining my friends and I for your weekly dose of encouragement. This week starts a new year, and every year I tell myself THIS is going to be the year I read the bible in its entirety. And every year, I set myself up for failure, because I let life get in the way.
Well this year I am trying a totally different approach. A friend of mine gave me a book she used last year to read. It’s a devotional to read through the bible while praying for your children. Every day you read a little old testament, new testament, part of a Psalm, and part of a Proverb. So far, so good! I challenge you to do something similar! Let God’s Word penetrate through your heart and see what He would have you to learn this year.
In my recent reading I came across this verse:
“But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
Psalm 3:3
It really struck a chord with me. We are in a sinful world, and if we’re honest, we are different then most. We get ridiculed, laughed at, made fun of, etc… But it’s okay, because the Lord is our shield. He will pick us up when we are down. We only need to rely on Him and not the world.
What verse has been on your mind this week? I hope you’ll share it. Be sure to stop by these blogs to see what verse has inspired them this week too!

I’m so thankful that He is my shield. Thank you, Jessica for sharing this verse. I too am planning to read through the Bible this year. I use the YouVersion Bible app on my phone, and I’ve found a reading plan that I intend to follow.
I have that app, but always seem to forget about it!
Easy to do!
I love that verse SO much!!! The idea the God goes before me and defends me like a shield is so comforting. I love doing Bible plans throughout the year. They help me stay focused. What is the title of the devotional you are reading? I would love to check that out. ?
It’s called The One Year Praying Through The Bible For Your Kids ?
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing Psalm 3:3. I was especially touched by what you wrote: “He [the Lord] will pick us up when we are down.” So true!
Amen!
Thank you for sharing these lovely thoughts. What is the name of the devotional, I might need to check it out!
It’s called The One Year Praying Through The Bible for your Kids. I’m liking it so far!
