His Encouragement – Relying on the Lord

Happy Thursday friends! It’s time for another dose of His Encouragement, where a bunch of us share what God has put on our hearts for the week to provide you (and us) a little pick me up.

I’m a working mom, and while it breaks my heart to be in this position, I know that it’s what God has for our family right now. Working in the world can certainly take its toll on you. There are many days that I leave work frustrated, angry, and questioning how I’ll be able to make it through another day. I’ll ask God to give me a different job, to provide a different source of income for our family, or to at least bring some Christian coworkers (I currently have zero!). Basically what I’m telling God is that I don’t want to do this anymore, so please give me what my heart desires. You know what I haven’t been asking God? For His help. I just want Him to snap His fingers and give me what I want, instead of helping me through the situation.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:13

The bible says that God will help us. He will hold our hand and get us through whatever situation we are struggling with. It could be work, home, children, anything…..He’s willing to help. This week God’s reminded me several times that instead of praying for a way out, I need to pray for God to help me through. It’s not been easy, and it’ll take some time to change my mindset, but God’s got this. He knows what I need and when I need it. He has a reason for me being here, and I need to be a light in the darkness for Him!

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. It was so hard when I was working, and I didn’t even have young children at home. It was a stressful job, managing an in-home care agency, with 100 clients and 70 caregivers. It was where God had me for a while. In the end, I traded financial stability for my sanity, and God has never failed to provide for us, day by day.
But it was where God had me for a while, and He sustained us through it.
I’ll keep you my prayers today.

  2. Thank you for sharing. I’m struggling with worrying about my son and dealing with watching my parents health fail and I’m three hours away. I also deal with loneliness as I spend most of my time alone. Pray for hubby to get work closer to home. He drives two hours each way and works ten hours six days a week. Have a blessed day.

  3. I easily fall into the complain trap…I hate my job and want out. I do pray, “God, provide a different way!” But a couple of years ago, my BFF (who also works with me) yelled at me to stop being a whiner. I’m a lucky girl to have a good job, so quit your complaining and change my attitude! Her yelling at me really opened my eyes to how negative I’d become. For the past two years, I pray often for God to help me do my day. I do it every day so I’m only focusing one one day at a time. Really has turned my life around!
    Great post today!!! 😀
