Happy Thursday my friends! Thursday has quickly become a new day of the week I look forward to so that I can not only share what’s on my heart, but can see what my friends are sharing as well. Please make sure you visit all of their blogs as well!! And please give a warm welcome to our newest member, Jenny!
This week we are having VBS at church. It has been tons of fun! Our theme is Under the Sea, and we’ve been learning a little bit about Jonah each night. Last night we had two children saved. Praise the Lord! (To put it in perspective, we only had 15 kids last night, so that’s a good ratio!). It’s so wonderful to see the kids learning about the Lord and having a good time 🙂 But, I have to tell you a secret. Even the grown-ups can learn something at VBS too. I did!
"Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah." Jonah 1:17
I’ve heard the story of Jonah many times. But there is one word in this verse that I somehow missed, until it was pointed out to me this week. It’s the word prepared. This tells us that the Lord prepared the great fish. Now, we don’t know how exactly. Maybe the Lord just whispered in it’s ear where to go, or maybe it hollowed out some of it’s insides so Jonah would have more room. We really don’t know. But here’s what we do know. The Lord prepared this fish. He made sure it was the right fish to swallow Jonah at exactly the right time and in the right location.
Friends, we can apply this to our lives too. The Lord is preparing a place for us to go to in heaven! Hallelujah for that! And you know what else? He’s also preparing things for our future that we cannot even fathom yet. That trial that you are going through right now could be preparing you for something years down the road. The illness that you have could be preparing you for a conversation that happens months from now with an unsaved sick person. Being in school or the workplace around so many unsaved people, may be preparing you for work in the ministry later in life.
You don’t know what the Lord has for your future (aside from heaven), but He is always at work paving the way. In our lives, in our hearts, and in our souls.
What verses have been on your heart this week? Please share in the comments and don’t forget to visit these wonderful blogs to see what they have to share! Blessings friends 🙂
