Happy Thursday friends! We made it another week, but boy can life just take the wind out of you sometimes. The work week always seems to go by slow, full of irritation, frustration, and ungodly people. That is why it is so important to read God’s Word every single day. The bible is always a source of encouragement, whether you are reading the Old Testament, or the New Testament. I know some people who think that the Old Testament has no value, it’s just stories that we don’t really need to know about. Here’s what I tell them – if it wasn’t important, God wouldn’t have included it! We can learn so much from these people and their stories. I just finished reading Deuteronomy and am getting ready to read Joshua. To see the trials that Moses and the Israelites went through – and all of it because of their own stubbornness! There were times they were scared to face battle, and it got me thinking about the world today.
We all have a big enemy – Satan. He is everywhere, and if we are not careful we can get caught up in whatever trouble he is trying to make. But just like Moses reminded the Israelites, we do not need to fear him. I want you to read this passage, and if there is something or someone you are afraid of, insert their name where it says “them”.
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6
For example, I could tell myself to be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of health issues…….
See what I mean? You can apply anything here that you are afraid of. Young people today – you can insert a name of someone that you go to school with that is giving you a hard time. Or college, a job, whatever may be troubling you. God tells us not to fear because He is always with us. And while I am human and tend to forget that once in awhile, when I think of this verse I can remember. Remember that God has his hands around me and is with me no matter what I’m facing. It may not be a literal battle like the Israelites were facing, but it is a battle for me and God knows that. He won’t let me down.
Now it’s your turn friends. What verse is on your heart today? Make sure you visit these other wonderful blogs for some more encouragement!
