His Encouragement – The Song of Mary

Hello my friends! Welcome to His Encouragement, a weekly post where my blogger friends and I try to supply some encouragement for your week. I’ve been absent for a bit – been going through some stuff personally, and didn’t feel I had the right heart to share any of these posts. I wanted to make sure I was glorfying the Lord, and not letting my own issues get in the way. I’m still struggling, but I’ll get there. And little by little the Lord’s grace is lifting me out of the pit.

This month I have been doing a study on Mary with my youth group at church. We’re going step by step, and this week we looked at a section my bible titles “The Song of Mary.” It takes place in Luke, when Mary has gone to visit Elisabeth. There is one verse that really just jumps out at me, and reminds me how great God really is.

“For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.” Luke 1:49

It’s the first part that speaks to me – he hath done to me great things. When you stop and think about it, the Lord has done so many good things for us. Supplied every single one of our needs, and even some of our desires. Taking inspiration from Mary, I told the kids we were going to write our own song for the Lord. I had them each tell me different things they would sing to the Lord if they could. It was so much fun, and really showed how much they love the Lord. Their answers:

I’m thankful for a never ending God.

Thank you for making people.

Thank you for saving people.

God, you always listen to us.

I will praise your name forever.

I will be your servant forever.

Thank you for never leaving me.

There were others too, but they’ve escaped my mind at the moment. This activity was so easy – easy enough that each and every one of us could think of something to sing to the Lord on a daily basis. Won’t you tell the Lord how much you love Him today?

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. I love this! God has done great things to me — my husband, my daughter, my best friend, my blogger friends, my review opportunities, my job, my home. The blessings are many! Thank you for pointing this out today!!!
