His Encouragement – Victory

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 4 Comments

Welcome to another dose of His Encouragement, a weekly post my friends started to give you a little encouragement to get you through the week. I’m so thankful they decided to start this and cannot tell you what a blessing it has been to me!

There’s a song we sing at church that goes something like this…..

Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever
He sought me and He bought me with His redeeming blood
He loved me ‘ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood

And perhaps the last verse is really what is on my heart…..

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the street of gold beyond the crystal sea
About the angels singing and the old redemption story
Oh and some sweet day I’ll sing up there the song of victory

For those of you who don’t know, I live in NY. And for the record, I live in Central NY, not the city lol. So many people just assume 😉 Anyways, if you have watched the news this week you have seen the bill that NY passed regarding abortion. I’m not going to get into my beliefs on that here, or the details of the bill. I’m sure we are all on the same page.

But what I want to share is how much this bill hurts me. I had a really good talk with my daughter about it, and I was so proud of how she’s handling it while mom here is still thinking about it, and just sick over the consequences. Then this song came in my head. This song led to a verse.

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow
to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Romans 14:11

It may not seem like Christians are winning right now, especially in NY. But one day….. one day that will all change. EVERY knee shall bow. EVERY tongue shall confess. That means Every. Single. One. I found comfort in that this week as I continue my internal battle over this bill. Look, I’m still upset about this. However, Jesus has won the ultimate fight. These lawmakers and individuals who were so adamant to get this bill passed will one day have to answer to the Almighty God. My prayer is that they will come to know Him and soon. I hope that is your prayer as well.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

That is one of my favorite songs. I have encouraged myself with the reminder that one day Jesus will make everything right.

  2. The Bible tells us that things will get very bad just before Jesus comes. This world is hurting, the people are hurting. It won’t be long! Jesus is coming soon! Oh, what a glorious day that will be, to see my Savior face-to-face!!

  3. I live in NY too… but WNY not the city 😉 lol. The lyrics you shared are to one of my favorite songs because it was one of my grandma’s favorites. This is a very relevant post for this week. It’s so sad to see the way the world is going today, but yes, it’s very true that God is aware and one day every knee shall bow!
