His Encouragement – Waiting on the Lord

Welcome to another edition of His Encouragement, a weekly post my blogger friends and I do to lift your spirits and help you get through your week!

As you know, I’ve been going through some health issues the past couple of months. Let me say this – patience is NOT my thing at all. Any of you have that problem? Isn’t it funny how God puts things into our lives that try our patience!? Take my health for example. I wanted immediate results to my problem. I wanted my doctor to wave a magic wand and make the problem go away. Or prescribe a pill that would make it better. Or schedule a surgery that would really make it all go away.

Oh I took some different pills, none of which worked. There was no magic wand. There was this – learning to WAIT on the Lord. Not really what I was looking for. And even today, I am still waiting on the Lord. Now, we do have a plan – I’m scheduled for a procedure in the beginning of August. But, things could happen between now and then. I’m still struggling honestly, but there is this little voice inside that tells me that God won’t let me down. Will this procedure work? Only God knows that, and I’m okay with that. I have finally learned to simply rely on Him for this. I understand that this is going to happen in His timing, not mine. And while I’m waiting for this procedure to happen, I’ll trust Him to take care of me, and get me to that point safely.

The bible has several verses reminding us to wait on God. Here’s one of my favorites:

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalms 27:14

Waiting on the Lord isn’t easy. Whether it’s a health issue, a prayer request, seeing a loved one saved, or anything else we have going on. But I promise you this – it is so worth it. If you’ve got something you’re trying to get a quick fix for, I encourage you to hand it over to God and wait on Him to provide. I think you’ll find some amazing results.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. I, too, struggle with patience. I have learned that my impatience is me thinking I know better than God, which is laughable. But in the moment, I swear I know what it right! I am sorry that you have had such a frustrating health time lately. I will keep praying that you will get your answers.

  2. Man, waiting on the Lord is a tough one. One I need more practice at. I’ve been slowly learning to wait and listen for His voice during those times. Dependence on Him is a good thing, and worth the trials that bring about patience.

  3. This was what I needed to read after Jacquelyn’s post.. God knew <3 Sorry for all of your health yuckies. I've been praying for you and will keep doing so! <3

  4. The struggle is real! The good news, we don’t have to do it on our own. God is willing to help us, we just need to remember to ask Him! Praying for you and your health. ((hugs))
