First Line Friday!

Welcome to another addition of First Line Friday! How has your week been? I’ve had my ups and downs. Put my back out (ow!), BUT guess what that meant? I did a ton of reading! So….maybe it had some perks 😉

I’ve been reading a lot of Amish books this week, all from great authors. Today I am sharing the first line from Vannetta Chapman’s latest story. I love her work. She’s an author I can always count on to bring a smile to my face. Grabbing one of her books is like grabbing my favorite blanket – always a comfort and always worth grabbing! Make sure to check back in a couple of days to see my review!

And now it’s time for this weeks #firstlinefriday!

This weeks first line is from What The Bishop Saw

Henry Lapp needed an escape.

Yep that’s all folks! But what a great start to the story. What does he need an escape from exactly? I’m not telling, you’ll have to find out for yourselves! What the Bishop Saw comes out May 1, so make sure to preorder it today!  You can preorder your copy here!

Now it’s your turn! Go grab your current read, turn to page one, and share your first line in the comments below. And don’t forget to visit these fantastic bloggers to see what they are reading:

  1. Great first line!

Since I have so many wonderful first lines to choose from at the moment, I’m going to share a different one here than on my blog. It’s the first line from Varina Denman’s ‘Looking Glass Lies’:

“I woke up in the middle of the night in our cavernous walk-in closet. Again.”

  2. The line I’m going to share with you here is different than the one featured on my blog post. This book is one that my 9 year old son is currently reading for the second time.

“This is a true story. Well some of it. Most of it.”
Harlow & Sage (and Indiana) A true story about best friends by: Brittni Vega

  3. Today I’m sharing the first line from Cynthia Roemer’s debut book that came out today.
    Under This Same Sky
    Illinois ~ May 8, 1854
Nothing could have prepared her for this.

  4. Great first line, but I need more…lol. Have you seen the films on the Hallmark Channel, which are based off of Beverly Lewis’ books? Excellent movies. 🙂

  5. Happy Friday (is it really?)!! My first line is from a nonfiction book that is being released on May 2nd, Women Who Move Mountains by Sue Detweiler: ” ‘Get my baby out!’ I screamed with a raspy voice.”

And one of my favorite quotes: “Every day we have the opportunity to agree with God & allow His perspective to flood us with His hope. It’s like having a pressure washer in your mind.”

  6. I threw my back out earlier this year. The one nice thing was I read WAAAAAAY more than I usually do! Hope you are feeling better!
