Knox by Susan May Warren Review

Well, vacation is over! I took some time off to prepare for CFRR, and now need to get back into the swing of things. I actually read this book before I went to CFRR, knowing I would see the amazing Susan May Warren there. Side note – she is simply amazing. She is funny, takes the time to talk with you, and just a joy to be around! We talked about Knox – he is by far my favorite hero she has ever written. Yep, get ready my reader friends. It’s about to get steamy (well the Christian G version!).

About the Book

Montana rancher Knox Marshall’s danger years are behind him. A former bull-rider, he now runs the Marshall family ranch, raising champion bucking bulls for the National Professional Bullrider’s Expo (NBR-X). Wealth and success are his, but life is stable, expected, and…ordinary. He can’t help but wonder if his best years are behind him.

Kelsey Jones just wants a safe life, a family, a home. Onstage, the beautiful rising star of the Yankee Belles becomes the person she longs to be – vivacious and confident – burying the brokenness she carries from a violent assault. Becoming NBR-X’s next country act is key to outrunning her past and achieving the success and security she craves.

Knox and Kelsey’s paths collide when an explosion at an NBR-X event traps them in the rubble and leaves them reeling. Kelsey’s crippling nightmares return, but for Knox, an obsession to find the bomber is ignited.

When Kelsey’s past threatens Knox’s family, he’ll have to choose between saving the Marshall legacy or becoming the protector he’s always longed to be.

The explosive beginning to the Montana Marshall series.

My Perspective

Ladies, get your fans ready. And maybe a drink of water. Knox is one swoon worthy character. I mean, why aren’t we all fleeing to Montana right now!? Wow. Susan May Warren writes some of my favorite hunky heros, but Knox just might be the one to beat. He’s loyal, protective, hard working, safe, and so much more. And while I would love to tell you just to read the book for Knox, I can’t. Susan May Warren can write a book. I mean, it’s not all about the hunky heroes (although they are a plus!). She weaves a story, shows vulnerability, character growth, romance, and even suspense. There’s a little bit of something for everyone in this story.

I do have to touch on Kelsey’s character for a moment. She may have tried to act strong, but on the inside here is a girl who just needed to be loved the right way, and protected. Don’t we all want that at some point in our lives!? She was scared, and she proved this theory over and over again in this story. I’m not going to lie, at times I just wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up and stop running. But I get it, I probably would have done the same in her situation. And isn’t that what a good author does? Make you feel what the character does, and question how you would have handled a situation? Warren makes me do that with every single book I read of hers!

I think this just might be my favorite Warren book! That being said, I cannot wait to see what other wonderful stories and heroes we will see in this series. If only time could go by a little quicker…….

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

About the Author

Susan May Warren

Growing up in Minneapolis and attending the U of MN, I learned to love city life, although I’m a woodsy girl at heart. Or maybe I’m an adventurer — having lived and traveled all over the world, including Siberia Russia as a missionary for eight years. Probably that’s why my characters can’t sit still, and seem to get into one scrape after another — they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.
