My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs Review

Posted by abakersp in Historical / 0 Comments

Hello friends! I’m thrilled to be showing you another book in the wonderful My Heart Belongs series. It just amazes me that all of these books are written by different people, but the feeling and writing styles are similar. I have enjoyed every single one that I have read, and look forward to more in the future. 🙂

Journey now to healing spa town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1888
Where the past and present collide and a woman is on the precipice of unexpected love.

Millie Cooper, fisherman’s-daughter-turned-nurse, flees a painful entanglement with the wealthy Drexel family who summered near her childhood home in Nantucket, only to encounter them again six years later in Glenwood Springs. The serenity of her mountain hideaway in a town with healing springs is disrupted when she faces caring for the elderly mother and the expectant wife of Stephen Drexel, the man she’d once loved—at the request of his brother John, the man who’d kept them apart. Will Millie forgive the wrongs she feels were done to her, or will she come to see them as a blessing in disguise that leads her to greater joys?

MY PERSPECTIVE

There were several things I liked about this book, but I think the thing I liked the most was the ultimate decision that Millie had to make towards the end of the book. Without giving too much away, she really had to sort out her feelings for these brothers. One she had a past with and one a present with. How do you ignore a man you thought you were destined to be with? Or how to you ignore a man that give you goosebumps and makes you feel flustered? It was such an interesting love triangle and I enjoyed every part of it.

There were tons of twists and turns in this fabulous, historical tale. Millie was such a strong character, having to overcome several internal struggles as she agreed to go to the Drexel family’s property and serve as their nurse. Perhaps what surprised me the most was the relationship between her and Mama Drexel. Mama Drexel was certainly rough around the edges, very set in her ways and thoughts. It was clear from the beginning that they were not going to get along. But I have to give Millie credit, she certainly didn’t back down. But throughout the book you see subtle changes, and this became my favorite relationship of the story.

My interest was held from start to finish and I must admit this was another successful edition to the My Heart Belongs series. I cannot wait to read more of them! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
