*** I just wanted to make a special note before I begin. I apologize for the lack of Spring Into Reading posts this weekend. I had some things I just needed to take care of in my personal life, and needed to unexpectedly step away from the blog. The good news is, I have several more posts which means we’ll be celebrating into the month of May!!! Thank you for your understanding.***

Hello reader friends! Welcome to my Spring Into Reading Event! Every day this month I’m going to feature a new release (or will be released) book for you to add to your TBR. There will be guest posts, giveaways, book excerpts, and more! So make sure you come back daily and see what book is in the spotlight next! And if you’ve missed any, be sure to click on the “Spring Into Reading” tab and look at the other posts!

Today I’m excited to share a little bit about Karen Witemeyer’s new story At Love’s Command. Available for preorder (comes out in the beginning of June), this is the first book in what sounds like another wonderful series from Karen. I just love her books, don’t you!? To celebrate, Karen is giving away a copy of one of her previous releases (which I read and it is FANTASTIC), More Than Words Can Say. Highly recommend you entering the contest and adding this new release to your summer TBR!!

ABOUT THE BOOK

At Love's Command (Hanger's Horsemen Book #1) by [Karen Witemeyer]

Haunted by the horrors of war, ex-cavalry officer Matthew Hanger leads a band of mercenaries known as Hanger’s Horsemen who have become legends in 1890s Texas. They defend the innocent and obtain justice for the oppressed. But when a rustler’s bullet leaves one of them at death’s door, they’re the ones in need of saving.

Dr. Josephine Burkett is used to men taking one look at her skirts and discounting her medical skills. What she’s not used to is having a man change his mind in a heartbeat and offer to assist her in surgery. Matthew Hanger’s dedication to his friend during recovery earns Josephine’s respect, and when she hears of her brother’s abduction, he becomes her only hope for rescue.

Matt has stared down ruthless outlaws, betrayal, and injury, but when a bossy lady doctor crawls under his skin, his heart is tempted to surrender. And when she is caught in the crossfire, he may have to sacrifice everything–even his team–to save her.

    I enjoy both standalone books and a series of books. I have not read Karen Witemeyer yet but will add this book to my TBR pile. Dr. Burkett sounds like a great character and I love 19th century books.

  2. Perrianne Askew

    I enjoy both series and stand alones but I’m much happier if I have all of the books in a series before reading.

  3. Sabrina Templin

    It depends. Stand alones are usually my faves but some series I have liked as well.

  4. Danielle Hammelef

    I like both and as long as the series stays strong and finishes well then I’m happy to read both.

  5. Standalones, series, it doesn’t matter to me — I just love to read! I especially love reading Karen Witemeyer’s delightful stories. Thanks for offering this nice giveaway. Congratulations on your upcoming release, Karen. :0}

    Karen Witemeyer is in my top 5 of favorite authors…she writes such witty, adventurous, late-night-reading novels. I’m excited about her new series, and changing things up with a man on the cover!! I love reading series, especially when it’s a side character from a previous book getting the star role. Thanks for sharing!! ??

    I enjoy both series and stand-alone books. It just depends on my mood! 🙂

    “do you prefer series or stand alones” is about like asking do you want a lot of chocolate or some chocolate. The answer is yes, and you always end up with chocolate. I do enjoy following characters through many different points in their lives over a series, but sometimes it’s also good to just be there for the most important part.

    I’m not sure that I have a preference, I just have a good book! But I do like it when I read a book and even though I don’t know for sure that another book is coming, I just know who it’s going to be about if it does=)
