Sunday Funday – Being Thankful

Sunday Funday

Welcome to another addition of Sunday Funday, a day where a few of my friends and I share something with our readers other than books. There’s a different topic every week, so be sure to follow so you don’t miss them! This week’s topic is – things we are thankful for.

I have to say, there are so many things I am thankful for. Way too many to list here. You did learn about five of them already in last week’s post (coffee, music, books, peanut butter, and Hallmark Christmas movies). And it’s easy for me to list Jesus, my family, pets, etc…. Andi share this graphic with me, and once I saw it, I knew it was the answer to my prayers. So to make this post more fun I decided to use it!

Now, obviously 30 would be way too many to handle. The post would be way too long. So I’ve narrowed it down to five. Here we go!

#3 – What color are you grateful for?

Green. It’s been my favorite color pretty much forever. I think it’s because of my green eyes. Or the fact that not a lot of people give it the attention it deserves. Let’s face it, most people are into blue, pink, purple. Not too often you hear about green. I love all different shades of green. My favorite? Just plain old green.

#11 – What holiday are you grateful for?

Well, the Christmas lover in me wants to say Christmas so bad here. And I am grateful for Christmas, don’t get me wrong. But in all honesty, I am most grateful for Easter. Had Christ not died on the cross and rose again, we wouldn’t be saved from our sins. Knowing that I am saved and will spend an eternity with the Lord is such a blessing. Easter is a wonderful reminder of what Christ did for me.

#7 – What memory are you grateful for?

This is a tough one, because there are so many. I am grateful for the memories I have of my grandmother, Mary. She spent a lot of time with me growing up, and we traveled together quite a bit. But this time of year, I remember one thing in particular. She used to have this huge china cabinet in her dining room. Each year when it was time to decorate for Christmas, I would help her line the top with Santa Claus figurines. They were old, and represented Santa’s from different years (we’re talking 1800’s and early 1900’s) and different parts of the world. It was so much fun. Quite a few years ago she had to sell her house and moved down to live with my mom. When she left, she brought the box of Santas to me. Now I still get to put them up every year with fond memories of grandma as I do!

#28 – What small thing that happened today are you grateful for?

Sleeping in and snuggling in bed for a while with my husband. Every morning my alarm goes off at 5:30 so that I can have time to pray, read the bible, and shower before Caitlin’s morning begins. (side note – this doesn’t always happen, sometimes my sleepiness take over!). So as you can imagine, there is not a lot of snuggle time in the morning. But the weekends? Well I always enjoy laying next to hubby, knowing I don’t have to get up. Unless the dog gets up anyways! I cherish these moments, as they do not happen often enough!

#30 – What skill do you have that you are grateful for?

Cooking and baking. Not just because I enjoy doing it, but for the obvious reason. No one likes to eat burnt food, or food that tastes disgusting! I’ve very thankful that I am able to cook edible meals for me and my family 🙂

There you have it guys! Now it’s your turn – choose one of the things on the graphic and share with me what you are thankful for!

#29. The place I’m thankful for.
The hotel my wife and I are living in. We had no place to live. We have found a beautiful extended stay hotel. The managers are amazing and talk to us everyday. We truly feel at home.

I am grateful for the touch of my husband. His touch can evoke so many emotions but one very close if not the one on the top is his touch of reassurance. It’s in bad or scary times that his touch lets me know that he’s there, that together we can get through whatever situation is upon us and that everything will be ok.

  4. Andi

Hi Jessica! I loved how you used the graphic. I, too, have so many things I am grateful for that it is hard to pick just a few. I’ll choose #22 – I am thankful for the salvation story, and how Jesus died for each of us! You chose Easter as your favorite holiday, I learned this in Bible study, did you know that Bethlehem where Christ was born is called the house of bread? I think that is so cool, knowing that He says He is the bread of life!

  5. Awesome post! Thanks for sharing 🙂 My mom’s favorite color was green, too, and I’m most thankful for my skills of cooking and baking, too. I get that from my grandma, who just passed away last week. I’m thankful for that memory too. So this was a good post to share! I’m glad I stopped by <3 Oh and I love Easter, too!
