My Original Review

I have been reading Amy’s books for years now and have honestly enjoyed every single book that I have read. This book is no different, and I am so glad to get into a new series of hers! I will admit, I was a little nervous when the book started off so sadly, and was not quite sure how the book would progress without making things awkward for the characters. Or perhaps my worry was that because there was such a tragedy off the bat, I didn’t think anything good could come in a realistic way. But Amy put my fears to rest. She wrote in a way that was not only realistic, but touched me deeply.
Throughout the book I felt myself feeling so sorry for Veronica Fisher. She had just lost her fiancé to a tragic accident. Such a young little thing with her whole world ahead of her to be so broken and unwilling to move forward. I could picture myself sitting next to her telling her it would all be alright, but seeing the sadness in her eyes. Then after finding her grandmother’s raspberry pie recipes, Veronica seemed to have new meaning in her life. This led to meeting Jason Huyard, and the rest (as they say) is history. Maybe.
Jason had a secret of his own – that he was there when her fiancé died. Since she doesn’t know him, he neglects to tell her that important fact when they first meet. They grow closer in a way that is innocent and completely believable. I loved how Amy wrote this love story – as two grieving souls coming together, even though one party was unaware of their similar loss. I kept telling Jason to come clean with Victoria, but alas he would not listen to me!
I’ll stop right there so that I do not give anything away 🙂 And I absolutely loved how the very ending gave us a possible glimpse into what the next book in the series might be about. That makes me so very anxious for the release date! I was so thrilled with this story and think you will be too! Highly recommend to all!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.
