The Mosaic Collection – Interview With Regina Rudd Merrick!

Posted by abakersp in Spotlights / 2 Comments

Welcome to the Blog Blitz for The Mosaic Collection, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! Everyday, for the past several days, I’ve been interviewing each author in the collection. If you’ve missed some, make sure you go back and read them. Tomorrow’s the last day, don’t miss it!!

For His glory…
The Mosaic Collection is an international community of women authors who use faith-based fiction to touch hearts with the good news that Christ’s finished work on the cross has made us one family, and to nurture affection for the people God has placed within our circles of influence, so that the grace and glory of God may become visible and personal to everyone we meet.

…and our good
We are sisters, a beautiful mosaic united by the love of God through the blood of Christ. We have experienced the redemptive, restorative power of God’s grace in our marriages and families, and we believe our God is able to heal, restore and redeem our brokenness. His love fills us with the courage to persevere, and to offer others a Christ-like compassion that is full of His wisdom and grace.

Regina Rudd Merrick is a writer, church musician, wife, mother, former librarian, and grateful follower of Jesus Christ. Having lived most of her life in Western Kentucky, she dreams of the sound of crashing waves and sandy beaches. Married to her husband of 35+ years, she is the mother of two grown daughters, and the keeper of a 100-year-old house where she lives in the small town of Marion, KY. She is the author of three books: Carolina Dream (Apr. 2017), Carolina Mercy (July 2018), and Carolina Grace (February 2019) in the Southern Breeze Series.

Cornerstone message from the collection:

Trust God and do the next right thing.

I want my readers to know that they are not alone, and that what they’re going through is not unique to them. Life isn’t a series of obstacles to overcome, but a series of events that point us to Jesus, who loves us more than we can imagine.

Welcome Regina! Thanks for joining me today. Let’s get right to it. If you weren’t an author right now, what would you be doing?

If I weren’t an author, I’d probably be a librarian, but I’d WANT to be an interior designer!

I’d love to do that too, but I have absolutely no knowledge of it, nor do I know how to blend colors and fabrics and all that jazz lol. The houses I design would not look very good!

What’s your favorite bible verse?

Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Isn’t God so good to us? Much more than we deserve.

What’s one thing readers don’t know about you?

I have always been obsessed with Westward Expansion. Daniel Boone was my favorite TV reruns as a small child, the “Little House” books changed my life forever, and one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on was to visit several Laura Ingalls Wilder historical sites! Yes, I cried at the museum when I saw Pa’s fiddle and the bread dish that someone threw out of Laura and Almanzo’s house that was on fire . . . And yet I write contemporary romance! LOL!

I love Little House!! I’ve never been to the museum, but want to go.

You’re on a stranded island and you can only have one book with you. What would you pick and why?

Besides the BIBLE, ahem, I think I would choose something really long like “The Winds of War” or “Gone with the Wind.” Hmmm . . . I have a wind theme . . .

I love Gone with the Wind! That is a good choice 🙂

What do you want readers to gain from reading this story?

I hope that readers will learn from the “Reno” family that while the best-laid plans don’t always come to fruition, trusting God always puts things in the right place at the right time!

God’s ways are ALWAYS better then ours. What a great lesson!

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve written notes on for a story idea?

Once, when writing a fanfiction story, I researched and wrote about breaking into a safe in a jewelry store on a cruise ship. That was so much fun!

That does sound like fun! Thank you so much for stopping by today and chatting. I can’t wait to read this story!
