A nameless evil lurks in the shadows…

In the wake of a recent wave of violence, TEMCO employees are left reeling. While some of the staff are put into hiding, others are left behind to discover the true identity of the mysterious nemesis who is determined to destroy them all. While Crystal, Marc, and Zeke search for clues to unravel the mystery of his real name, their enemy is lurking in the shadows searching for TEMCO’s missing leaders. It’s a race against the clock! And as the hours and seconds tick away, it’s anyone’s guess whose search will be completed first. It’s a classic battle of good versus evil, and the stakes couldn’t be higher!

My Perspective

Wow, this book had me at the end of my chair the entire time. It was so exciting, mysterious, and yes a bit creepy – but that’s what makes a good thriller! Drake’s character is so dark and twisted, but also very calculated and intriguing. I was on the hunt for his real identity just as the others were. Danele did such a wonderful job in writing this dark horse. You could see into his mind at times and almost understand where his thinking was coming from.

Let me just say that the first scene between Drake and Gerald had my hairs standing up! I couldn’t read the sentences fast enough, and this pace continued as I read the entire story. I loved the little clues here and there that the team found – they were presented in a way to keep your attention, but not drag them out too slowly. And the ending! Well, I can’t give any spoilers away, but it certainly left me thirsting for more! I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a complimentary review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Interview!!

Welcome to A Baker’s Perspective Danele. I am so happy to have you here!

Thank you for having me, Jessica! I feel honored to be interviewed by you!

What do you love about Time Search?

I love so many things about my new book. It was very fun to write! Time Search is the third book in The Time Counselor Chronicles, and in it, I explore different aspects of my characters’ personalities. For example, in this book, my readers learn more about Zeke’s troubled past. Also, Marc and Crystal’s relationship continues to evolve, and they begin understanding each other on deeper level. Another thing that I love about Time Search is the action. I constructed a game of cat-and-mouse between Agent Ruthford and Drake that had even me guessing! I tried hard to write a story that would keep my readers on the edge of their seats, and I’m very happy with the result!

How would you describe Time Search?

Time Search is clean, Christian romantic suspense with a time-travel twist. It’s full of interesting characters and lots of action! In Time Search, while Crystal, Marc, and Zeke frantically try to discover Drake’s true identity and the motive behind his attacks, Andrew Hamilton attempts to help by sending Agent Scott Ruthford to protect them. Drake’s vendetta knows no bounds, and as Scott tries to apprehend him, Drake leaves a brutal path of destruction in his wake. With every breath he takes, Drake threatens the TEMCO team as he ruthlessly searches for their hidden leaders.

What did you learn while writing this book?

Something that made an impression on me while I was writing Time Search was the importance of emotional honesty. In Time Search, several of my characters experience an emotional crisis. In life, and while writing, it’s tempting to avoid strong emotions—to gloss over them. But I believe that freedom can only be gained when painful truths are confronted. Life isn’t easy, and life for my characters isn’t always easy either. Some of them handle their painful situations gracefully—others don’t. As an author, I want my characters to grow and evolve, and the only way that growth happens is when pain is overcome.

From a practical standpoint, the other thing I learned is the importance of having a good reference book within easy reach of my keyboard. When I’m editing, sometimes I’m confronted by a comma or hyphen that looks a little strange. I keep The Chicago Manual of Style on my desk, and it’s highlighted all of the colors of the rainbow. I believe that a good reference book is essential, especially if you want to avoid pulling your hair out by the roots over puzzling punctuation.

Please talk about your characters and introduce us to a new character in your series.

When I wrote The Time Counselor Chronicles, I was extremely ill and in the middle of a seven-year stretch of quarantine. Because I was cut off from society, I let my imagination run wild, and I created my own community. My characters literally became my friends. I wanted to know all about them. I wanted to know their strengths and weakness. I wanted to know their admirable qualities and also the things that would drive me crazy if they were flesh-and-blood friends. Since I grew to love my characters so much, I couldn’t give any of them up. For instance, Dan and Gil—as well as Crystal and Marc—are mentioned in all of my books even if they aren’t the main characters of each story. Each book also explores new characters as well.

In Time Search, my readers will become better acquainted with Andrew Hamilton. Andrew is mentioned briefly in my first two books. In Time Tsunami, I gave a glimpse of a teenaged Andrew being counseled by Zeke. Later, Crystal uncovered a file revealing the importance of keeping Andrew alive. In Time Trap, Nicole learned that Zeke’s best friend “Andy” was actually the Vice President of the United States. I added these glimpses of Andrew in order to prepare my reader for book three.

I think Andrew Hamilton is pretty special. As a successful businessman, he never intended on getting caught up in politics. He became the Vice President simply because he wanted to serve his nation. He has overcome a tragic childhood, and he tries to help others. During Time Search, Andrew faces many problems. His sister has been involved in a crippling accident, and his friends at TEMCO are being threatened by Drake. In addition to these worries, he is running for reelection and false rumors surface that threaten to discredit him. In order to squelch the false accusations, the President comes up with a daring idea. The President’s plan makes Andrew uncomfortable and involves him in several humorous, unsettling situations. With problems swirling around him, Andrew tries to relax by watching televised concerts. As the book unfolds, Andrew finds himself falling in love with a beautiful violinist—a woman he’s never met who isn’t even on the same continent.

When I created Andrew, I wanted him to be a strong, honest, Christian man. I wanted him to be trustworthy, moral, and kind. And even more than that, I wanted him to be a character that my readers would love. I hope that everyone who reads Time Search cheers for Andrew just as much as I do!

Thank you so much for stopping by and telling us more about this great series!

This has been so much fun, Jessica! Thank you for allowing me to talk with you and your readers!

About the Author

danele-rotharmel

Danele Rotharmel grew up with a love of the literary word, and by age five, she knew she wanted to be a writer. However, her life took an unexpected turn when a mysterious illness brought her close to death. Eventually, she learned that a low-level carbon monoxide leak from a faulty furnace in her home was slowly poisoning her. This poisoning triggered severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and partial amnesia.

During this time, the hardest thing she faced was a crisis of faith. She had to quit her job and stop going to church. She couldn’t write, couldn’t drive, and could barely remember who she was. To say she was upset with the Lord was an understatement. She began reexamining her faith in light of her illness, and eventually, she came to the firm conclusion that God is real, God is good, God is interested and involved, and God is trustworthy regardless of tragedy.

When her illness became even more severe, she was put into quarantine and could only talk to friends and extended family through the glass of a window. This quarantine lasted for seven years. During this time, she wrote the first six books in The Time Counselor Chronicles.

Danele currently lives in Colorado where she continues to write. Although her journey back to health was long and difficult, it provided her with the opportunity to grow closer to God and to write her books. For that, she is forever thankful.
