What’s Going On Anyways?

Hey everyone!!! Happy New Year. Okay, so I’m a few weeks late. There has been so much going on in my life lately, and I wanted to share some of that with all of you. I know this is a book blogging website, but sometimes I like to share other things that are going on too!

As you know, book blogging isn’t really my day job (although I wish it was!). Unfortunately I do work for a living, and while it’s not something I am totally in love with, it does pay the bills. Recently I have started a couple of things on the side to supplement the income in our household. Truth is, I want to get out of debt (I mean, doesn’t everyone?!). But I want to do it by doing some things that I absolutely love, not things I have to do. Will I be busier? Yes. Will that mean I won’t review books anymore? Um, hello, that is my first love!! So no, you won’t see less of that! But here’s what I do have going on:

Pampered Chef

Many of you already know I am a Pampered Chef consultant. I absolutely love doing this because I adore their products. They last forever!! I’ve only been at this for a few months, but I am ready to ramp it up a bit. Virtual parties only – I want to make sure I’m not taking face time away from my family. They come first 🙂

My daughter and I finally opened our Etsy shop, Bakers Blessed Designs. We have been trying to get one going for about a year now, but it didn’t turn out how we expected. When we first had the idea, we really thought bible journaling items were going to be the thing we sold. But the Lord kept shutting the door on that. Funny how that happens, right!? Shortly before Christmas we starting making jewelry and found that we really enjoying doing it. My daughter found a really creative way that we can use this to share the gospel with others, or provide some encouragement: each order will include a card with a bible reference on it. We’ll switch it up from time to time, but I just fell in love with the concept. Not every piece of jewelry is Christian based, but that just means maybe we’ll reach some lost people! I am really excited to begin this journey with her. Pretty soon we’re going to branch out into things beyond jewelry. Can’t wait!!

Do you happen to know who this is? Yep, it’s THE Melody Carlson! So what does this have to do with me? Well, I am thrilled to say that I am now her virtual assistant! I’ll be helping her out with social media, getting a street team going and more. I am honored to be starting this journey with Melody. She really is so sweet. To be honest, this is something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now, so I hope that this is just the start. But, I better wait on God for that – nothing works when it’s my timing, only when it’s His! Anyways, if you’ve read her books and really enjoyed them I would love to hear from you! And be on the lookout – the street team search will be starting up soon!!

What else is going on in my life? Well, there’s the usual mile high TBR pile that I am determined to get caught up in. So determined in fact that I’ve limited the number of blog tours I do ever the next couple of months. Um…we’ll see how that turns out lol. I hope to start posting some beautiful bookstagram photos. It’s something I have wanted to do for awhile, and am hoping this is the year it happens. I thought about doing some video reviews, but I just don’t think the world is ready for that yet 😉

My daughter’s a junior in high school now, and while she’s not totally sold on the college idea, we’ve started the research process just in case. Please pray about that! I don’t want her to be pressured into anything (and our local school is good about doing that). I’d rather her just listen to the Lord’s leading for her life and be content with that. On the plus side, we’ve started doing our bible reading together everyday before school/work. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.

And last but not least, I’m thinking of doing another weekly post here on A Baker’s Perspective. Something fun, different and that others can join in on. A Day in the Life was so fun, but that has been laid to rest right now. I’ll still do my weekly His Encouragement post, because it’s something I feel so strongly about. I don’t exactly what’s in store for this new weekly post, God hasn’t really told me which direction to go in yet, but when He does, you’ll be the first to know. If there’s something special you’d like to see please let me know!

I guess that’s all for now guys. Thanks for listening. I’d love to hear what’s going on in your life! Please comment below and tell me. And if you have a prayer request I’d love to hear that as well.

Blessings everyone!

  1. Looks like your life is so interesting and busy! Is there a community college near you that your daughter could go to? That is a more inexpensive alternative and she would be living at home and take as many or as few courses as she wanted. I did that for a year before I got married ( 50 years ago) . It was a good experience for me.
I like your jewelry idea. I made jewelry ( still do a little) when I lived in St. Louis. Now that I am retired the market is not here. I hesitate to go on etsy. I prefer to read! Blessings on your journey! I enjoy your posts.

  2. Congratulations on all your new endeavors. Maybe your daughter would be more interested in a technical college. Something to check into. Blessings and best wishes.

  3. You have been busy! I didn’t know that you are a PC consultant. Love their stuff!
So cool about being Melody’s VA. Her books are super fun. I will watch for the street team info! I would love to learn more about being a VA, too. I will be retiring from teaching in a few short years (hopefully) and need to think about what I’ll do after that. VA’ing might be a good option for me.

  4. Wow! You are doing A LOT!!! I hope all goes well for you. ? I’ve read and enjoyed several of Melody’s books. As for new post ideas…I enjoy reading “favorites” posts where people list favorite things (besides books) that people have come across.

    1. I love the favourites (besides books) idea! Just like Ellie, I too enjoy seeing these posts, I always end up finding something I need I never knew about and need to check out.
