About the Book

Search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana, twelve years after she joined the military to escape the mistakes of her past. With a job waiting for her as the new lead pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park, Kacey hopes to reconnect with the now-teenage daughter she sees only between deployments. What she doesn’t realize is that someone else is also back in town.

Ben King has been building his country music career since the day Kacey shut him out of her life. Now all of that’s on hold when his injured father calls him home to help run Peak Rescue until he’s fully recovered. It doesn’t take long, though, to discover his father’s ulterior motives as Kacey Fairing walks into the house and back into his heart.

With Mercy Falls in a state of emergency due to flash floods, Kacey and Ben are forced to work together to save lives. But when floodwaters turn personal, can they put aside the past to save their future?

My Perspective

This book had me from the front cover. Yes, there is a nice looking man, but what really intrigued my was the left hand section. The beautiful scenery and helicopter. I wanted to be on that helicopter! It just seemed like such a peaceful and serene setting that I couldn’t wait to dive in an escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The author provided me just the storyline I needed to escape, and the descriptive words to allowed me to easily picture the setting. And while you may think that’s crazy considering the book info (story about being in a state of emergency because of flash floods), trust me – it is a great escape.

This story was filled with suspense and action that had me hanging. While I will say I thought it was a long read, most of it was relevant to the story and it doesn’t really seem like such a long book as you are reading it. You will easily get caught up in the storyline, community, Kacey, and Ben. And hats off to the author for keeping faith in the storyline. In tragic situations I think that sometimes in books faith gets lost, but it doesn’t happen here. I hope this story will lift your spirits if you are going through something personal right now.
