Welcome to Wondering Wednesdays, a weekly post to learn more about me and other bloggers 🙂
Today’s questions is – What did you do during the summers as a kid?
It’s funny this question came up today, because my husband and I were just talking about this over the weekend. We have had a massive heat wave the past few weeks, with high humidity and with no AC in our house, it gets pretty old real quick. But it got us to thinking, how in the heck did we ever spend our entire summers outside as kids and not be bothered by the heat!? I cannot stand the heat anymore, in fact it literally makes me sick so I have to be super careful. But as a kid it didn’t bother me.
My summers were spent outside, all day and every day. I would ride bikes on the road I lived on (back road), go for walks and runs (training for field hockey – I was not in shape or the record), play ball with neighborhood kids, go swimming in the creek down the road, and just do whatever as long as it was outside.
My friend and I even used to walk up to this old hidden graveyard, that is over a hundred years old, and just look at all the graces. Sometimes we’d do pencil etchings of them, just to see if they’d come out. It was cool up there because it was on a little hill, hidden from the road, and surrounded by tons of trees. I’ve always wanted to go back and check it out, but I think it’s protected now so people can’t just go when they want.
I have so many fond memories of being outside as a kid. Makes me mad that the heat bothers me so much today, because I really love being outdoors. Maybe I should consider moving to the North Pole lol. Or just take advantage of the days that are less humid, and be outside as much as I can.
What what about you? What did you do as a kid during the summers?
