April Showers Bring First Line Friday?

Posted by abakersp in First Line Friday / 11 Comments

First it was snow (remember over three feet in March). Then that melted, plus we’ve been hammered with rain. We are on the brink of flooding. Please pray for our community and so many around us! I am SICK of rain. But, that is life. On the plus side…my family is going to Sight and Sound Theater to see Jonah on Saturday. I am beyond excited. But that’s not what we are here to talk about. We’re here to talk about books.

Today’s First Line Friday comes from Ginny L. Yttrup. She is a new author to me, but when the chance to read the book came across my lap I decided I wanted to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did!! Look for my review in a few days. 🙂

And now it’s time……. (enter drumroll)

This weeks first line from

Home by [Yttrup, Ginny L.]

I run away. From conflict. From pain. From reality.

I think we all tend to runaway from time to time. Maybe not in the literal sense, but even spiritually speaking we tend to run. See what Melanie’s running away from by ordering the book here, wait for Saturday to get here (it’s only one day!!) and start reading!

Now it’s your turn! Go grab your current read, turn to page one, and share your first line in the comments below. And don’t forget to visit these fantastic bloggers to see what they are reading:

Today has been the first full day of sunshine in 3 weeks! It looks like another cloudy/rainy week ahead though.

  5. We’ve got blue skies where I am (Australia), but we have had quite a bit of rain lately. We’ve definitely left summer behind 🙁 Thanks for sharing this one. It wasn’t even on my radar. Love finding new books!

I’m sharing the first line from Cara Putman’s new release, Beyond Justice, over on my blog today. ?

  7. I understand that sentence very well. In running, we feel like we are protecting ourselves, but in truth it gets us nowhere. In reality, we need to run to God…He will give us all the comfort we ever need. 🙂 Happy Friday!
