First Comes Love by Emily Giffin

I enjoyed how Emily chose to go back in forth in POV’s between Josie and Meredith, especially because they were complete opposites. I think when together they balanced each other out. Fought like crazy, but what sisters don’t! I also liked the relationship between Gabe and Josie. Best friends living together of the opposite sex can sometimes draw a fine line, but their relationship seemed okay just the way it was.
I was a little disappointed in how each character developed throughout the story. I won’t go into too much detail to avoid spoilers, but I expected so much more from Josie and Meredith. I think perhaps Josie tried to grow up and move on from her bad relationship in the wrong way. I was expecting one thing to happen in her romantic storyline, and was sorry to see it didn’t totally happen.
Nolan and Meredith had a lot of struggles in their marriage that I thought would have been addressed a bit more. I was happy to see they finally shared some truths with each other, but I felt like it was almost passed over without confronting the issue in a realistic way.
Overall the book was an okay read. I did not like the language that was used, however that is just a personal preference. I have enjoyed other books by Emily, however this was not a favorite. I do feel that many of her fans will enjoy this story. I give this book three stars out of five.

I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review which I have given.
