First Line Friday – Dead Drift

Posted by abakersp in First Line Friday / 4 Comments

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books! Today I am excited to share with you the first line, well paragraph really, of Dani Pettrey’s new book. It doesn’t release until July 3rd, so you are getting a sneak peek right here on A Baker’s Perspective! Dani’s books are, well, amazing. I have enjoyed every single one I’ve read. I can’t even pick a favorite – I feel like that would be picking a favorite child! Do you have a favorite book of Dani’s?

Today’s first line is from Dead Drift by Dani Pettrey

Excitement bubbled through Jenna McCray, gooseflesh rippling along her skin in the cool night air as she hurried to meet Parker. Her Parker. It was almost too amazing to be real.

Please note – this is an arc first line, so it may change slightly when it goes to print. This has been a series that I have adored, and waiting for the next book to release is like me a little kid waiting for Christmas!

Now it’s your turn to share your first line! Grab the book nearest to you and share the first line in the comments. Don’t forget  to check out what everyone else is reading at Hoarding Books!

  1. Happy Friday!?

My First Line comes from a book I’m reading now, The Ones We Choose by Julie Clark…..

If loneliness were a color, it would be the deep purple of my eight year old’s shirt as he walks solitary laps around the school track.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!???

My first line is from The Road to Magnolia Glen by Pam Hillman:
The LADY GALLANT in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean
    January 1792
“Keep your brother away from my sister!”

Love Dani. Can’t wait to finish this series!

    My first line (plus some)
Lou hoisted up her gown and winced as she tottered across the parking lot. The sparkly four-inch heels had looked so pretty in the box, but they felt like mortar and pestle grinding each bone in her foot. She missed her green Crocs.
    THE COOINCIDENCE OF COCONUT CAKE
    by Amy E. Reichert

  4. Becky Smith

My first line is from Robin Mason’s The Silent Song of Winter.

” The sounds of the swamp in winter would scare another person but not me.”
