First Line Friday – Missing Isaac

Posted by abakersp in First Line Friday / 10 Comments

Good morning reading friends! Happy Friday! Not only is it Friday, but for us bankers, it’s the Friday before a three day weekend. Now that is cause for celebration! We’re probably going to take the Christmas tree down this weekend. It’s a bit early for us, but our cat keeps playing with it and to be honest, I’m tired of yelling at her!

On to the book world. I’m sharing a first line of a book on my TBR pile. I hope to dive into it this week and thought perhaps by sharing it here, it would give me a little motivation. I’ve heard some good things about it, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign 🙂

A sleepy purple twilight wrapped around the farmhouse, its tall windows glowing with warmth from somewhere inside.

Yep, I think I’m going to like this one.

And now it’s your turn to share your first line! Grab the book nearest to you and share the first line in the comments. Don’t forget  to check out what everyone else is reading at Hoarding Books!

I just finished two books so…..
I am just going to crack open Irene Hannon’s Dangerous Illusions:
“ Hello Matt, long time no see”
As the words slithered through the clammy night air, a jagged shaft of lightening illuminated the speaker’s face for one brief instant.

  3. Happy Friday!

My First Line Friday comes from a book I will be reading later this month, The Upside of Falling Down by Rebekah Crane….

I was born twice. The first time was on July 9 to Paul and Mimi Haas in Cleveland, Ohio. My mother died six years later.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

  4. This is quite the popular book this week! I enjoyed it too.

I’ll share the first line from the next book on my TBR list: Until We Find Home by Cathy Gohlke: Lightning crackled, splitting the night sky over Paris, illuminating letters painted on the bookstore window across the street: La Maison des Amis des Livre.

  5. Sound good thanks for sharing. Today was featuring a historical mystery set in Victorian England THE TREACHEROUS CURSE by Deanna Raybourne

My first line today is from Robin Lee Hatcher’s You’ll think of Me. I’m reading it now and I have trouble putting it down! “Brooklyn Myers sat on the narrow stretch of lawn beside the brick apartment building, watching her ten-year-old daughter.”

  7. Yes, you must read Missing Isaac! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m sharing the first line from Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano on my blog. It has so many great lines!

I’m currently reading ‘Aint Misbehaving by Marji Lane. Here’s the first line:

“Her future wasn’t the only thing at stake.”
