His Encouragement – A Promising Future in Spite of a Bleak Present

Welcome to another edition of His Encouragement, a weekly post my blogger friends and I do to lift your spirits and help you get through your week!

Let me ask you something friends. Do you struggle living in the world today? I do. There is so much sin. So much evil. There are even some things in my own life that can become hard to deal with. I’m not trying to sound like a downer here – I’m getting to something good soon. My point is there is so much negative in our day to day lives. Some negativity is there by choice (based on our own actions and thoughts), and some is there by chance (just a part of the world we live in).

Negativity can spread pretty quick. Have you ever noticed if you are around someone who is always negative, your thoughts have a tendency to drift that way too? It doesn’t take much at all really. Imagine if we tried to spread joy, comfort, peace and happiness. It just might make our surroundings a little easier to be around, right!? But where can we get joy from in such a sorrow filled world? You know the answer – the Lord! All you have to do is open your bible and there are TONS of encouraging verses that can bring a smile to your face and brighten your mood.

There are times, like recently, that I really have to dig deep. I have to remind myself that all the evil that is around, and all the trials that are coming my way are just temporary. One day this will all be behind us, and quite frankly we’ll be too busy worshipping the Lord that we won’t even remember it. Want to know the verse that I say to myself daily to brighten my mood?

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

1 Thessalonians 4:17

Now even though this is talking about the rapture, and we have no idea when that is going to take place, I concentrate on the very end of the verse. “And so shall we ever be with the Lord.” One day, whether it’s because I have passed or the rapture has taken place, I will be with the Lord. Forever. There will be no evil, no sorrow, no negativity. There will only be room for worship, happiness, peace and joy.

Friends, living in the world today is difficult. I encourage you to remind yourself that it is just temporary. One day we will be away from it all. But until then, let’s try to lift each other up in prayer, and spread a little joy and happiness while we can!

  1. I’ll admit that negativity is something I struggle with. I’m aware of it and it’s something I try to pay attention to and work on, but it’s a struggle. I know you’ve been going through a lot lately and I’ve been praying for you and will keep doing so <3

  2. I love this post so much. I need reminders often to be patient. One day I will be with Jesus. He is my blessed hope! Sometimes life gets hard and overwhelming. I feel something push me down. It makes me negative. But I have to remember one day I will be with Jesus. Forever!
