His Encouragement – Bird Edition

Good morning friends! How has your week been? We’ve got warm weather around my house and all my bird friends have returned. My daughter calls me a bird nerd. I could sit there and watch the birds for hours and be content. My husband and I just celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary on Saturday and guess what he got me? A bench so I can sit outside and watch the birds whenever I want! I love taking pictures of them, so my hope is to grab my camera and a good book, and go soak in the sun. When I see a bird, I’ll quietly grab the camera and go to town. Yesterday I snagged a couple photos of the oriole that came back. It’s so beautiful – one of my favorites. Plus cardinals, hummingbirds, finches….. pretty much all of them. My goal this year is to snap a photo of a hummingbird. That’s the one bird I haven’t been able to photograph yet.

So what do birds have to do with our encouragement today? The bible tells us…….

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

Matthew 10:29-31

Birds are small. Most people just overlook them, unless you’re a bird nerd like me. They fly through the sky from tree to tree, building shelters, nests for their babies, and trying to stay warm in the winter. When a bird gets injured and falls to the ground, who sees it? If it’s in the country, probably no one. We don’t even realize it’s happened. BUT… God does. Matthew 10:29 tells us that not one sparrow shall fall to the ground with the Father knowing. A little bird, which doesn’t really do much. God knows them, loves them, and takes care of them! That’s not all. Verse 31 goes on to say that we are more valuable than a sparrow. So, if God sees the birds when they fall, don’t you think that He sees us when we fall? Don’t you think He’ll take care of us, love us, and make sure our needs are met? Oh we can take such comfort in these verses! God loves you friend. You are valuable to Him. Remember that the next time you fall. Your Father will be right there waiting to pick you up.

  1. I too enjoy watching the birds that come to our bird feeder, I love listening to their song in the morning when I wake up and in the evening when I’m relaxing after a long day. Thank you for sharing this verse today! It is a wonderful reminder that we are important to God and that He cares for us.

Happy summer watching your birds on your wonderful chair outside.

  3. This is beautiful! I am not a bird nerd (love that, btw), but I do love birds. I really can’t name too many of them, but I appreciate them. My daughter loves birds and wishes she could be one so she could fly whenever she wants. LOL!

What I love so much about your verses is the fact that God sees. Nothing is insignificant to God. He knows how many hairs I have on my head. He knows the birds flying around my school campus right now. I love this so much because it proves that God is in control of everything. That gives me comfort.

We love watching the birds. We have the usual robins and blackbirds. Also have hummingbirds , cardinals , red finches and the occasional gold finch.lately a couple orioles came through. Once a hawk came and perched on out back fence.

I love this verse! And it’s true, it’s so encouraging and comforting to know that God loves us and looks out for us when we fall.

  6. I’m a bird nerd too lol I LOVE sitting and watching the birds! This verse happens to pop in my head often when watching them too. I can be an anxious person and this is one of my verses that helps me when I meditate on it. Thanks for sharing!
