His Encouragement For Moms

Hello my friends! It’s time for another dose of His Encouragement, a series started by my awesome blogging friends to bring a bright spot to a dreary week! This week I want to speak to all the mom’s out there. Have you ever felt inadequate? Have you ever felt like you’re not doing enough, don’t have the right answers, or you’re steering your child in the wrong direction? Yeah, I have those moments ALL the time!

In Proverbs 22:6, the bible tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Do I believe we should do this? Yes, of course. But I always feel inadequate about it. I was not raised in a Christian home. In fact, to this day most of my family members are not believers. I have had zero role models in how to be a good Christian mother. Trust me, I have made several mistakes. I wish I could redo the past sixteen years because there are so many things I would have done differently. But God doesn’t want us to look back, He wants us to look forward. And really, the best example I could ever have is Jesus. He is the one I need to try to be like. And He is the one I need to rely on.

Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

If there’s ever a time that you feel like you are doing something wrong as a mother, pray. Ask God to help you. If it’s an argument you just had with your child, or a way to show them how to make difficult decisions, pray. I’ve learned that over the past few years more than ever before. And you know what? My daughter has proven time and time again that I’m doing ok. She’s made smart choices in her life, loves the Lord, and is just an amazing young lady. She happens to be turning 16 on Saturday – I cannot believe how fast these 16 years have gone by. We’ve had discussions about her being a mother, and I am so proud of the things she has planned for the lives of her children. I am impressed by the things she is looking for in a future husband. And I am ever so grateful that she is trying to keep her eyes on the Lord instead of the world. I pray that continues to be the case for the rest of her life.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. This topic…man, do I know I fail. One of my first prayers in the morning is that God helps me be the mother my daughter needs. I know for a fact that God is on my side and does help me, but sometimes I still mess up. It does help to remember that God chose me to be Bella’s mom, so He knows I can do the job. His confidence in me helps me so much!!!
    Great post today!!!
