His Encouragement – Grace

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 4 Comments

Happy Thursday my friends! Welcome to another dose of His Encouragement where my blogger friends and I try to give you a little boost in the middle of your week.

I’m drawing close to the end of my study in the book Lies Women Believe. One of my studies this week was about relying on the Lord to get you through anything that life throws at you. Then the study referenced a verse that I’ve seen many times.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

1 Corinthians 12:9

The part I want to focus on is “My grace is sufficient for thee”.

There are a billion parts of my day when I need the Lord’s grace. When I get frustrated, upset, bitter, unforgiving, sin, throw a temper tantrum (didn’t think that could happen at my age, did ya!?). When I feel lonely, scared, worried, or lost. And location doesn’t matter for the record. It could be at home, at work, or even in my car. Yes, full disclosure, I get a slight bit of road rage now and then. But I have gotten better, because of God’s grace of course!

So this is the part of the study I really want to share. At the end of the study for that day, our job as the reader was to write down situations where we feel like our circumstances are taking control of our minds/lives, and put the word even in front of it. Then afterwards you write – God’s grace is sufficient for me.

For example: Even when I don’t know how I’m going to pay my bills next month, God’s grace is sufficient for me.

Another example: Even when I have to go to a job that I do not like and angers me, God’s grace is sufficient for me.

Another example: Even when I get scared about my health issue because my doctors are not being helpful, God’s grace is sufficient for me.

Friends, I encourage you to write your own sentences. I cannot tell you how much it has helped me, really. Does it make my problems go away? Nope, not at all. BUT it does give me peace about them, and it does help me get through it. I pray this helps you in the same way!

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. Love this! I have heard of this before and know I’ve done it in the past. It’s definitely something I need to think about more often, especially when I am feeling overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing!
