His Encouragement – Love in the Midst of a Storm

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 3 Comments

Hello friends! Welcome to His Encouragement, a weekly dose of biblical encouragement to help get you through your week! Make sure you check out what my friends have to say too. Let’s all encourage each other!

I don’t know about what is happening in your lives, but I can tell you that in my own life it has been difficult to not get angry with people. We live in a world full of unbelievers. We work with them, grocery shop with them, and have members of our family who don’t believe. It’s hard. Really hard.

I find myself in an interesting situation at work. My company is merging with another, and not one employee has something good to say about it. The truth is, we don’t know a thing yet, so we really don’t have a reason to be upset. But they gossip, they complain, and they drive me nuts! This week I have been reminded of something. I still have to love them. Why? Because Jesus commands it.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:12

Hard pill to swallow, I know. During this storm that life has thrown at me, it’s hard not to get angry at my coworkers. Just going to be honest – I totally do. My patience level is pretty thin right now (pray for me!). But more than once I have had the verse above come into my mind. I need to take a deep breath, and show God’s love during this situation. It won’t be easy. It’ll take every ounce of me. BUT it can’t be easy for God to love me. And if He can love me beyond my faults, well I think that means I can love these people.

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

    Hi,
We got a good report at the eye specialist yesterday. My husband do NOT. Need additional eye surgery! Praise God!
We got him on VA benefits and the appointments he has from now on out will be covered and we get to keep our doctors! Yay! He will need cataract surgery but that is a bit in the future and can be done locally.
Hubby’s mother has cancer though. She is almost 97. She just wants to be comfortable, so no treatment.
You will get past this company take over. I’m glad you have a good attitude. Blessings!

  2. Sorry how crazy things have been for you. This is a great verse to remember in times of dealing with difficult people. We talked about this in Bible study today but from John 13 not 15. Praying for you!

  3. My prayers this year have been, “God, please show me how You see the people I interact with today.” My hope is that love will come more naturally to me if I see people the way God does. So far, I don’t have a supernatural power that strips people of their meannesses and ignorances, but I do feel calmer lately. That has to be God! I’m sorry you are struggling with your coworkers. I totally get that! I’ll pray God grants you a little more peace!
