His Encouragement – Praising God Continually

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 2 Comments

Hello friends! Welcome to His Encouragement, a weekly dose of biblical encouragement to help get you through your week! Make sure you check out what my friends have to say too. Let’s all encourage each other!

There is a verse from Psalms that really pierced my heart this week that I want to share with you. Something that is much easier said than done.

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

Here the psalmist reminds us to praise the Lord at ALL times. Seems like such a simple request, and yet I find that sometimes it can be pretty difficult. Why? Because we let our fleshly self take over. When we’re going through troubles, we tend to sulk and have tons of self pity. Instead we should be rejoicing that our Heavenly Father is there to get us through our trial.

There is a man who just started coming to my church a few months ago. He’s got some health issues – sore back and shoulder issues to name a few. He is quick to say “Praise the Lord, He is so good to me! Don’t bother praying for my hurts, I’m just so blessed that the Lord has saved me.”

WOW.

What a testimony this man has! It’s so encouraging to me, and reminds me that I need to praise God all the time. Even when I’m weary, hurt, financially struggling, or whatever the case may be. Praise the Lord for His goodness, His mercy, and His strength. And most of all, thank God for my salvation!

What’s been on your heart this week friends? I hope you’ll share in the comments, and please don’t forget to visit my friends and see what they’re sharing this week!

  1. Great reminder! I do tend to praise less when I’m scared or mad or frustrated. I need to be better at taking my focus off myself and placing it on God where it belongs. ?
