My Perspective
This book is a difficult read, covering a difficult topic. If you are looking for romance and roses, this is not the book for you. However, knowing this going in, I think it made it a better reading experience for me. I was able to prepare myself for the fact that this would be a heavy book about a dark topic – abuse. And while some authors think that as a Christian author you need to shy away from this topic, I disagree. There are Christian’s all over the world suffering from some kind of abuse. Remember, Jesus told us to carry our cross too. He didn’t promise us the easy life. So why read this book? So you can help others. So you can be enlightened. Maybe even so you can give yourself a little hope. Kristin Spencer does a great job really, in giving us a glimpse of the abused life. She doesn’t sugar coat it, but she doesn’t make you want to put the book down either.
In a book of darkness, there is one redeeming light, and actually these sections were my favorite parts of the story. Ever now and then it’s story time, and if you look closely at the stories, you will see their worth. They describe Christ’s life in a fun and unique way. I picked up on that with the very first story. They are actually fun stories to share with your young child as well – omit the other parts of the book for obvious reasons. This really provided a glimmer of hope in a dark world. Overall, this is a book that will open you eyes and yet provide a shining light at the same time. I encourage you to give it a try.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you for your review and information on “lunge into Darkness” by Kristen N. Spencer. Although this isn’t the type genre I would reach for, I do like to mix it up from time to time. I’d love to explore this book and take myself in a different direction for a change. I does sound like a very interesting read.
It’s good to mix it up from time to time! And sometimes I’ll alter what I’m reading based on my mood.
