Christmas novellas are everywhere, and have I got a great one to share with you this week!! Royally Yours is such a wonderful collection of stories, and I just happen to have each author on the blog this week talking about their story in the collection. Squeee!!! Fangirling over here ? Today I have the lovely Melissa Tagg here talking about her story, One Royal Christmas. This story!? Well let’s just say that it starts out this collection with a bang!

Royally Yours: Royalty Meets Small-Town Charm in Four Heartwarming Christmas Romances by [Johnson, Liz, Tagg, Melissa, Clark, Ashley, St. Amant, Betsy]

Tinsel, Vermont is known for its no-paparazzi policy and Christmas decorations that are fit for a queen. This holiday season, join four royals on a stroll through town square as they each find their Christmas wishes for a happily-ever-after…tiaras optional.

One Royal Christmas by Melissa Tagg

In the wake of the worst year of his life, His Majesty Jonah Harrison Archer Davies makes the drastic decision to temporarily abdicate the throne and travel to Tinsel, Vermont, in hopes of finding the peace and privacy he needs to heal, discover his vision for his country . . . and somehow believe himself worthy of the crown. But when he meets charming librarian Rowan Bell,on a quest of her own to save Tinsel’s quaint cottage library, he’s more torn than ever before as duty to the crown collides with an enchanting Christmastime romance he didn’t see coming.

If someone were to ask me what inspired my novella, One Royal Christmas, I’d have to first say that what inspired it were the friends who asked me to join their collection. Haha! Though I’d kind of just assumed I’d end up writing a Christmas story this year—because they’re sooooo fun to write and I really missed not doing one last year—I can honestly say I wouldn’t have thought to write a royal story.

And I especially wouldn’t have though to write about a king.

A king who abdicates his throne…temporarily, anyway.

A king who also happens to be…a mega bookworm. ? ? ? (Gotta say, it’s pretty handy for him that his love interest turns out to be a librarian, one who happens to be on a quest to save a quaint cottage library.)

And, man, I am just so grateful to Betsy, Liz, and Ashley for inviting me along on this journey! This story surprised and blessed me in so many ways. In both the hero and heroine, Jonah and Rowan, I found such kindred spirits. In the hot summer days spent writing their Christmasy story, I basked in the joy of creativity…in the fun of writing in a new setting with a somewhat different voice…and in aww of God’s faithfulness as He brought this story to life in my heart.

I hope this story makes you laugh and swoon and even more, I hope it touches your heart. I hope, like Jonah, you’re reminded that you’re not alone…that the wonderfulness that is Emmanuel, God with us, sinks into your bones and fills you with the truth of your worth and value. I hope, like Rowan, you’re reminded that your hopes and dreams matter…and that you’re never too stuck for God to surprise and use you. After all, a new adventure might be right around the next corner…
