Bitterness, a stalker, and a neighbor to die for. What’s a girl to do?

Trailed by a stalker in New York City, Willow Thomas, a young ad executive, scurries back to her small North Carolina hometown and the lake house where ten years earlier a scandal revealed her entire life had been a lie, and a seed of bitterness took root in her soul. The cocoon of safety Willow feels upon her arrival home soon unravels when she meets opposition from her family, faces the man she left behind, and the stalker reveals he is close on her heels.

Can Willow learn to trust God to tear out her roots of resentment, reunite her family, ferret out a deadly stalker, and to rekindle the love she left behind?

My Perspective

Fay Lamb is a new to me author and wow did she totally take my breath away. Literally! This book is so suspenseful that at times, I didn’t want to read it alone! Oh my goodness, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and gasping whenever the stalker’s POV was presented. Which, by the way, I loved that the author included that. It really enhanced the story for me and made me try to solve the mystery of who it was even faster. For the record – I didn’t figure it out until nearly the end, which made the book more fun to read! Yes, it was fun to read. Not in a Stephen King scary kind of way – I won’t even look at the covers of those books. It was more like an adrenaline rush. Fay Lamb has written so well that you almost feel like you are Willow. You feel like the stalked is chasing YOU, and you are the one who’s on the run – hence the reason I didn’t want to read it alone lol. But then when you reach the conclusion, it’s almost like coming off a sugar high. I’m ready to read another fast pace, exciting book!

The bottom line is if you are looking for an exhilarating read, then this book is for you. There is a touch of romance too which lightens a few scenes here and there, but honestly, I would still love the book if it wasn’t there. I can promise you that I will be on the lookout for other books by Fay Lamb, and I hope you will be too. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
