Summertime. That magical time of year when we take time off from work, relax, and work on our reading lists. Yes, I am a person who will take time off from work and just sit around and read. Inside, outside, at the beach (well, if I was on a tropical location – no real beaches in central NY), location doesn’t matter. All I need is my books and some time. So, what is on my reading wish list for this summer? Well, I’m glad you asked. I’d really love to share with you every single book I’m hoping to read, but that would take about 50 blog posts, and I only have so much time, so I’m going to limit it to ten. They are in no particular order đ
An Amish Summer by Amy Clipston, Shelley Shepard Gray, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin
I love Amish fiction and these are some of my favorite Amish authors. And hello, the word summer is in the title! Do I need any other reason?
Love Story by Karen Kingsbury
Karen Kingsbury is the author that got me started on Christian Fiction. I have every single one of her books, and this is the first time I have not read a book of hers on the very day it released, if not sooner. Just been busy! But I promise you friends, it will be read. Soon!
A Name Unknown by Roseanna M. White
I love her books. They are full of charm, great characters, and wonderful settings. Isn’t this book on everyone’s reading list?
Light of Dawn by Vannetta Chapman
This series has my attention. Think about it – if we were suddenly without power, as a nation even, what would we do? It has been so interesting to read this series and I cannot wait to dive into the latest installment.
A Stranger at Fellsworth by Sarah Ladd
Sarah has a way with words. I have enjoyed every story I’ve read of hers and cannot wait to read more!
The Blessing by Wanda Brunstetter
I absolutely loved the first book in this series. And let me tell you a little secret. While I’m reading, I pretend that I am at the cooking classes! So not only am I reading for enjoyment, I’m reading to learn!
Manuscript for Murder by Chautona Havig
Have you met Chautona? She’s kind of awesome, and so are her books. Anytime I see her name on the cover, I know I’m in for a treat!
The Thorn Keeper by Pepper Basham
Okay, speaking of awesome, meet Pepper. She is so sweet and down to earth, and dang this girl can write. This is book two in the series. I read the first book a while ago and absolutely loved it. Devoured it. I imagine the same will happen here.
My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island by Carrie Fancett Pagels
First of all, I love this cover. But most importantly, I love Carrie’s writing. I know to set aside some time to read when I start one of her books because most likely I will be reading awhile!
The Return by Suzanne Woods Fisher
Combing Amish fiction and Historical fiction? Um, yes please! I love both and this is like the perfect book marriage. Plus Suzanne is wonderfully gifted in the storytelling business. It’s a win all the way around!
Okay friends, there you have it. Now keep in mind, this is a very SHORT list compared to the reading pile I actually have going on at home. You don’t want to see pictures. It’s not pretty! Want to know what I few of my friends are reading? Check out their posts as well:
I want to hear from you! What books are you looking forward to reading this summer?
[…] Summer Reading List 2017 by A Baker’s Perspective […]
Great list Jessica! I have a few similar ones on my list as well. I’m really looking forward to reading A Name Unknown! I just finished Many Sparrows by Lori Benton… WOW! You won’t want to miss that one! Soooo good!
Oh I’m going to have to look that one up. Thank you!!
A Name Unknown is on my reading list, toO!!!! In fact, a copy just arrived, and I need to find time to settle in with it. I’ve never read anything by Roseanna White before so I’m excited to read it. đ
Still waiting for my copy, but I’ve read others by her and have loved them!
A Name Unknown is on my TBR, too, although it didn’t make my summer cut. đ I can pretty much guarantee you are going to love The Thorn Keeper. I have read the entire penned in time series and they were all awesome, but I have to admit the last one may be my favorite. How often can you say that about a trilogy?
She is such a fantastic author! Hoping I get to these books real soon ?
