Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Although I am big into Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite food holiday. I just LOVE turkey – and we really only have it around Thanksgiving time. And I love all the different sides as well. But, I have a secret to tell you. I hate gravy. Don’t judge. We all have our quirks, right? Mine just happens to be that I don’t like the star of Thanksgiving. My husband thinks I’m weird, like how can I eat turkey and mashed potatoes without gravy? Well, I put the food on my fork, put it in my mouth and chew! hehe want to know another secret? My daughter hates it too. Girl after my own heart 🙂
Another great thing about Thanksgiving? DESSERT!!! I have a huge sweet tooth, and I haven’t really met a pie I don’t like. Today we’re supposed to be talking about our favorite Thanksgiving dessert, and to be honest I cannot leave it at one. So I’m going to do a few. I just have to!! Okay, here it goes.
I mean, this is a no brainer, right? This year my daughter and I are going to try a new kind that we saw the Pioneer Woman make. It’s got a chocolate layer on top of the pumpkin layer, and then a marshmallow cream on top. YUM!
I love cheesecake of all varieties. So pair cheesecake with pumpkin flavor and you have a sure winner! I think I need to go make one. Right now.
Do you see a theme hear? Yep, I really like pumpkin! This dessert is so yummy. You make a flavorful pumpkin filling, and put it inside crescent rolls. Cut the sides of the rolls so you can make a braid, and bake. When you take it out of the over you drizzle it with an icing and chopped pecans. Oh my goodness, it is soooooo good! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Banana Cream Pie
Okay, so I know this probably isn’t a traditional Thanksgiving pie for most, but it is in my husband’s family. It is the #1 pie that people eat at the Baker Thanksgiving. Especially when his grandma was home and cooking. Hers is without a doubt the best. Yes, we can all follow the recipe, but hers had that special grandma touch in it and make it so much more flavorful. And she never put the bananas on the bottom, but mixed them in with the pudding filling so that you had banana in every single bite. And who doesn’t like cool whip topping? Yes I said it. Cool whip. Sometimes you just have to go with the store bought stuff 🙂
So there you have it. Some of my Thanksgiving favorites. What are some of yours?
