The Mosaic Collection – Interview with Angela Meyer!

Welcome to the Blog Blitz for The Mosaic Collection, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! Everyday, for the next several days, I’ll be interviewing each author in the collection. So be sure to come back and see what they have to say!!

For His glory…
The Mosaic Collection is an international community of women authors who use faith-based fiction to touch hearts with the good news that Christ’s finished work on the cross has made us one family, and to nurture affection for the people God has placed within our circles of influence, so that the grace and glory of God may become visible and personal to everyone we meet.

…and our good
We are sisters, a beautiful mosaic united by the love of God through the blood of Christ. We have experienced the redemptive, restorative power of God’s grace in our marriages and families, and we believe our God is able to heal, restore and redeem our brokenness. His love fills us with the courage to persevere, and to offer others a Christ-like compassion that is full of His wisdom and grace.

Visit the Mosaic Collection Website to stay posted on each new release & follow the collection blog for meaningful posts from the authors!

Angela D. Meyer lives in Nebraska with her husband of over 27 years. They have two children, both of whom they homeschooled and graduated. She is the author of the Applewood Hill series and is a contributor to The Benefit Package, a devotional compilation.

Angela graduated from college with a degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, but instead of working overseas, she spent several years in New England as a nanny. She co-teaches a women’s Bible study at her church and serves on the advisory board of her local Christian writers’ group, Wordsowers.

She enjoys the ocean, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and hopes to someday ride in a hot air balloon. Her aim in life is to love God and love others.

Cornerstone message from the collection:

There is brokenness all around us and people turning to the wrong things for answers. Only God can make whole. I want my stories to be powerful in their showing of God’s truth, love and grace, lighting the path that leads directly to God.

I have experienced firsthand the redemptive, restorative power of God’s grace in my marriage and I want to share with others that.God is able to heal, restore and redeem any brokenness.

Welcome to A Baker’s Perspective, Angela! I’m so happy to have you here today.

Can you tell us what’s in your current TBR pile?

  1. Exordia by Sarah E. Ott
  2. Once Upon a Town by Bob Greene
  3. In the Shadow of the Queen by Kim Stokely
  4. Divine by Karen Kingsbury
  5. The Gospel Comes with a House Key by Rosario Butterfield

I read Divine by Karen Kingsbury and loved it!

Tell us about your writing routine.

I have 3 days a week I can typically count on for writing, pounding out my word count weaved in between other household activities. I prefer an uncluttered desk when I begin my writing session, but between notes I pull out and timelines and other important reminders about my book, by the end of the day it is often a mess. My desk is situated in the living room, so if I am working when the family is around I wear noise canceling earphones. As well as blocking out distractions, this is a great reminder to my family that its work time for mom. I often work in the quiet, but when I listen to music, I prefer classical. My favorite music for writing is the Piano Guys.

Oh I love the Piano Guys!! They are so talented 🙂

Favorite dessert?

Peppermint Ice Cream (Brahm’s is the best brand!)

I don’t think I’ve every had peppermint ice cream, but it sounds delicious.

What’s your favorite bible verse?

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

This is such a comforting verse. Great choice!

You’re on a stranded island and you can only have one book with you. What would you pick and why?

The Bible. God’s word comforts me and guides me. His word is truth and I’m guessing being stranded on an island might lead me to questioning reality. His word reveals God to me and reminds me that I am never alone – something else I’m sure I will want to be reminded of stranded on an island. His word is alive and every time I read it, He reveals something new, so I don’t think I would get bored reading it over and over. And it’s filled with great stories!

I love how God can speak to us in different ways, and give us just what we need at the exact moment we need it!

Do your characters ever talk to you at odd times?

They don’t talk to me, but they do tend to take over a scene. They often do and say things I hadn’t even thought about, adding a great dimension to the story.

It just amazes me that this can happen. I can’t even fathom all that authors go through in writing a book.

Can you tell us what are you working on next?

I have two projects on my calendar. At some point after my title with Mosaic releases, I plan to re-release the Applewood Hill series, the first series I published. (Currently out of print) My next writing project will be a suspense novel, however I’m not ready to share any details. The story is still in the planning stages and too early to tell any tales.

I love suspense novels! I look forward to when you can share those details 😉

Thank you so much for chatting with me today!!
